Esource Slide Library
Welcome!

Welcome to the revised Collaborative to Support Urinary Incontinence and Women’s Health (CSUIWH) Web site, now titled Collaborative for Education on Urinary Incontinence and Women's Health (CEUIWH). We are in the process of redeveloping this Web site to encompass a broader scale of urinary incontinence (UI) education. In addition, we have a new logo that is based on the award-winning design of the original logo. Thank you for your continued interest, and we are sure that you will find this site to be informative and educational.

UI is an involuntary loss of urine that can occur for several reasons. It is an important and treatable problem that diminishes the quality of life (QOL) of millions of women worldwide. Significant advances have been made to identify the causes of UI and increase the number of treatment options for women with this problem.

While CME is no longer offered on these programs, they are available for your use as reference materials.

The official journal of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH)

Strategies for the Prevention and Management of Stress
Urinary Incontinence in Childbearing and Community-Dwelling
Older Women

This supplement focuses on the importance of early screening and intervention in women of childbearing age and older women. In the introduction, Carolyn M. Sampselle, PhD, RNC, and Thelma J. Wells, PhD, RN, discuss how clinicians are in an ideal position to educate women about stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and to suggest avoidance and treatment strategies. In the first article, Janis M. Miller, PhD, APRN, details the childbearing-related risks of SUI and gives evidence for the efficacy of preventive and management strategies during pregnancy and postpartum. In the next article, Sandra Engberg, PhD, RN, CRNP, explores the prevalence and risks of SUI in older women from the middle-aged to the frail elderly and addresses therapeutic options. In addition, Leslie S. Wooldridge, MSN, RNCS, GNP, provides a Clinician Response after each article and lists advantages and disadvantages of current treatment methods in a comprehensive appendix.

The CEUIWH initiative was formed to

Educate nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), and registered nurses (RNs) about the diagnosis and treatment of UI in women

Establish an extensive network of NPs, PAs, CNSs, and RNs interested in developing their UI diagnostic and treatment skills

The CEUIWH initiative will provide you with an array of continuing education programs and resources designed to help you improve QOL for your female patients who suffer from UI. Our hope is that this CEUIWH Web site will become your resource for comprehensive information on UI.

Membership in CEUIWH is free and carries an array of benefits that culminate in a greater understanding of and knowledge about UI. It provides a forum for interaction with your peers through a variety of educational opportunities. In addition, your membership affords you a venue for keeping current about cutting-edge therapeutic options for this disease to help you improve the outcomes of therapy and enhance QOL for your patients.

Visit the CE/CME link for information on CEUIWH educational publications and programs.

To help clinicians streamline the diagnostic process, CEUIWH has developed clinical tools that are available for downloading and printing.
